Candle Care and Safety

We are passionate about our candles and committed to your safety. Follow our simple tips to get the most out of your candles.

Burn Candles Safely

  • Remove all packaging prior to use.

  • Burn within sight and don’t leave unattended.

  • Keep your wick trimmed to a 1/4inch before lighting. If you notice your wick producing smoke, snuff out and trim your wick down before relighting.

  • Burn away from draughts in a ventilated room.

  • Place well away from flammable materials

  • Burn on a dish or candle plate, on an even and non-flammable surface.

  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.

  • Do not touch or move a burning candle

  • Do not blow out. Use a snuffer.

  • Use tweezers to remove any debris in wax pool.

  • Do not burn more than 4 hours. Optimum candle burn time is 2-4 hours. We like to have the wax pool melt to the perimeter after the first few burns. A little hangup is ok too ie. wax left on sides. This means the candle is not burning too hot.

  • Wax pool fires, while rare, can occur if candle integrity is not maintained. If you experience this, dry powder, foam and carbon dioxide suppressors are the best extinguishers to use. Alternatively, cover with sand or bicarb. soda or remove all oxygen supply by placing a pan over the flaming candle to extinguish. Do not use water extinguishers or put water on a wax flame. Do not blow on the flames.

  • When not in use, store your candle in a cool dark place to preserve colour and fragrance.

  • Keep your candle covered after use. Dust buildup can be a fuel hazard. Use a lid or a cloche.
